- May 20th: Carilion Clinic Research Day: David Sane, Chief of Cardiology at the Carilion Clinic, will be the keynote speaker at the 2010 Research Day, which will be from 1:00PM-5:30PM on May 20 in Fitzpatrick Hall at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke. - Novozymes Names New President in Virginia: Ted Melnik has decided to step down as President for Novozymes Biologicals to seek new opportunities outside Novozymes. Melnik has left some big shoes to fill as he is one of the most well-regarded leaders of the NCTC community. Patrick G. Patterson will take over the position. The new president has most recently been serving in a position as general manager at Novozymes' site in Switzerland.
- VTLS Wins Largest Contract in Company History: VTLS, Inc., which is celebrating its 25th year in business, recently announced that it won a contract to automate the Hong Kong Public Library, which is the largest library in the world and also represents the largest contract in the history of VTLS.
- Schultz-Creehan CEO Nanci Hardwick selected for LEAD VIRGINIA: Schultz-Creehan LLC announces that CEO Nanci Hardwick has joined the LEAD VIRGINIA Class of 2010. Hardwick was selected from a pool of well qualified, competitive applicants for this state leadership program. Lead Virginia seeks individuals with outstanding leadership records and diverse backgrounds who will not only benefit from the program, but also contribute to it.
- 'U.S. News and World Report': Virginia Tech's College of Engineering cracks Top 25 Best Graduate Schools: Virginia Tech's College of Engineering now ranks among the nation's 25 best engineering schools for graduate studies, according to "U.S. News and World Report's" America's Best Graduate Schools 2011 survey, released last week.
