Exploring the Android SDK and the App Inventor beta
Did you know that quarter two Android sales have grown 866% over the same quarter last year? In the past few months, thousands of new apps have appeared in the Android Market. Are you ready to develop android applications and take advantage of this massive growth? In this session, we'll discuss the relative advantages and disadvantages of the Android platform, learn about developing Android apps in java using the SDK, and see a demo of the new WYSIWYG App Inventor beta.
Christopher Fury is a senior software engineer at Synchrony, Inc and an adjunct professor at Virginia Western Community College, where he teaches courses on programming and mobile development. He will lead the discussion on the Android platform, provide a demonstration and give you an example application, complete with source, to download to your own android device.
